👋
It shocks me every time I remember that my current laptop is over 6 years old.
I bought it way back in 2018. A much simpler time. I was looking to make a considerable investment to get a good laptop. After a bunch of research I decided on a Dell XPS 15 9570 (the one with the awful webcam placement) with a 1080p screen and 16GB of RAM.
It’s kind of amazing that it still runs perfectly well today and does everything I need it to do.
Sure, I’m not the most demanding of users: I don’t play games on it. I don’t do video editing. Most of the time I’m coding and browsing the web.
I’m still impressed though and I’m very pleased with my past-self for making this purchase! 👏
So since the laptop has been with me for so long, I decided to make a little thing to remind myself (and anyone else who may be interested) of how long I’ve used it for.
It’s a kind of date grid where each square is a day I’ve owned this laptop. I think it turned out quite nice!
(In reality it was more of an excuse to play around with this design idea I had in my head, but let’s keep that a secret 🤫)
