My little corner of the internet ✨

Welcome to my website!

I’m Hector and this is my little corner of the internet where I share things I’m passionate about - which will likely involve computers in one way or another 😀

You will find projects I’ve worked on (some of which I continue to use & maintain) and some stuff I’ve written.

This is also a playground I use to try out different things. The website has gone through many iterations over the years (find some here). From a Jekyll template, to an Hugo template, to a custom Hugo site, to a custom 11ty site, and, most recently, a completely custom Svelte site.

With each iteration I also managed to find a new CSS framework! I’ve used Bulma, PicoCSS, and now Tailwind.

So I will definitely break stuff as I try out new things 😅

My love for computers started many many years ago, but I was only introduced to real coding in 2011 with VisualBasic.

I still remember one of my first coding projects back then - was a simple desktop application that would solve Sudoku puzzles. I didn’t know much about solving Sudoku puzzles (and I still don’t!) so the algorithm basically brute forced the puzzle until it found a solution. It remains one of the most fun projects I’ve ever made!

Since then I’ve worked with a variety of languages across a variety of projects including Java, C, C++, C#, Python, Kotlin, and Go. I’ve also done some Javascript with ReactJS and Svelte. If I had to pick my favourites, they would definitely be Go and Svelte (with Kotlin in third place).

note: Svelte is amazing and I love it! This is why I’ve recently been doing more frotend stuff in my personal time (like this and this). But I still consider myself a backend dev. I just don’t want to only be a backend dev!

I love coding. It’s a beautiful blend of logic, creativity, art, focus, and puzzle solving. For me it’s more than a tool to solve problems, it’s a way to express myself and have fun! ❤️
